AUGUSTINE CASINO FOOD AND TOY DRIVE AIMS TO BRINGHTEN THE HOLIDAYS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED
Coachella, CA (November 17, 2014) – With the holiday season approaching, Augustine Casino has kicked off its 7th Annual Canned Food Drive, and 5th Annual Toy Drive, which will benefit the Coachella Valley charity dedicated to helping locals in need –the Galilee Center. The Drive will run throughout the month of November, and is scheduled to wrap up Friday, December 19.
The number of families seeking food and shelter in this area is growing, which is why Augustine Casino is aiming to bring in at least 10 tons of food.
“The staff, the tribe, the customers – everyone here at Augustine is getting behind these initiatives, and we’re really excited about that,” said Jef Bauer, General Manager of Augustine Casino. “We’d love to exceed our goal, and we look forward to partnering with the local community to see what we can do when we work together.”
Those wishing to get involved in the Canned Food Drive can bring non-perishable food items to Augustine Casino, including canned fruits and vegetables, pastas, canned meats, macaroni & cheese, rice, beans, tomato sauce, cereal, powdered milk, peanut butter, cooking oil, crackers and soups, as well as baby formula and baby food. Holiday sides such as peas, corn, cranberry sauce and spices are also encouraged.
For each item donated, casino patrons will receive one drawing entry to win their share of $2,500 December 15-19 at 7pm! The donation will help feed disadvantaged families in the east Coachella Valley in time for the Christmas Holiday.
Augustine Casino’s charity beneficiary, the Galilee Center, works with the needy in the Valley’s local communities year-round – but particularly during the holiday season.
“Our mission is to fulfill the needs of the underprivileged and disadvantage by providing food, clothing, and other basic needs while affirming their dignity with love, compassion and respect,” said Gloria Gomez, Founder of Galilee Center. “Augustine Casino embraces and supports our mission, and is so very instrumental in assisting us in our efforts to help others.”
